Is it ever really over?

So today was fine I met all my goals and was relieved that tomorrow I do not have to sit in the dark in my room anymore whenever the sun sets. But as the day went on I began to question my joy. Was I really just going to revert back to my old ways? No, the goals I set for myself were reasonable and achievable for a reason. I planned on keeping them even after NI week had officially ended.

The quest for a more sustainable lifestyle is a never ending one. While 1 week is a good start, more can always be done. The fight for our planet and its inhabitants, man and beast alike, is a constant battle against wants and desires. As we have talked about all week in class, we must pass on our knowledge and values of sustainability to those around us and support them in their development of a sustainable lifestyle. We are stronger together. Sustainable living is a collective effort and as more people strive for this ideal change will happen.  I am thankful for this project.  It was the jump start I needed to adapt my life in ways that I knew I could, but was too lazy to start. I hope that even with all the struggles, everyone else enjoyed this week as much as I did.

  1. I agree completely. I also think it will be weird to go back to the way I was living before. My eyes have been opened to the ways in which I am impacting this environment on a daily basis and I will strive to do my best to avoid the amount of waste and energy that I am consuming.
