No Impact #5

Despite my intial reticence No Impact Week has changed the way I think. If only because I realized that I could be eco friendly for myself. Apart from not contributing to waste and falling onto the hedonistic treadmill being mindful had a postive effect on me. I was happier when I wasn’t constributing to waste.

I flopped when it came to cutting off.my meat consuption and I used a little more energy than I planned to but overall I enjoyed.

Things are turning around: No impact #4

I finally had a really good no impact day. I took a quick shower, made no trash, donated and item of clothing and managed to stay out of unnecessarily lit rooms.

But perhaps my proudest moment was at the DCA awards today. I was calming setting up when it suddenly struck me how much waste was about to be created.

Checkered Past: No Impact #3

I woke up feeling pretty good today. I finally took a five-minute shower and I remembered both my plate and water bottle. Today has been a success and a bit of a fop.  I was too self-conscious to use my large bright red plate today but my lights have stayed off.

I have been donating an item of clothing everyday, and it has been so easy that I’ll select an item of clothing to donate once a month after No Impact week is over.

Things Fall Apart: No Impact #2

Energy wise today has not been too bad. I only charged my phone for 10 minutes. Most of my direct energy consumption came from staying in to work on my homework. It took about an hour to charge my laptop. However,  think that was offset by the fact that my roommate and I haven’t turned on the lights as all today (we’ve been in bed recovering).

Reboot: No Impact #1

For me, the perpetual night owl No Impact week began around 12:10 am when I frantically rushed up to my room to unplug my Ipad and Macbook to prepare them for a week in my desk. That set the tone for Day 1 for me; close but not quite what I imagined. Energy consumption is one of my major weakness so my goal to cut my energy consumption by 90% this week.
