I cant believe today is the last day of No Impact Week. Even though there were some ups and downs throughout the week, all in all, it was a learning experience. I am really glad we did this challenge because I don’t think I would have done something similar otherwise and would never have known just how much I actually consume without even thinking about it.
I woke up feeling great today. I used minimal water and electricity while getting ready in the morning. Everything was going great until I started starving before my second class. I was going to go to Slayter and grab some fruit, but breakfast looked so tempting and I just couldn’t resist. So I grabbed a disposable plate and fork and got some food.
Today was an interesting day. It started off well; I didn’t consume a lot of water or any electricity in the morning. After class, I had several meetings and did not have time to go to Curtis for lunch but at the same time I did not want to go Slayter either. I had no choice, however, because I was starving and I ended up going to Slayter.
Today was actually a good day. Much better than yesterday. I live in Shepardson Hall which has huuuuge windows so I utilized the beautiful sunlight streaming in instead of switching on any lights. I took around an 8 minute shower, where I shampooed and conditioned my hair, which was definitely an improvement from before. Usually I end up taking at least a 15 minute shower when I wash my hair because I tend to become very existential and start reflecting on life.
So, it is the first day of No Impact Week and I have already slipped up several times. I woke up feeling very optimistic and ready to take on No Impact living and all that jazz. I even had a good start – took a shorter shower, got ready without turning on the lights, and instead of using tissue paper, I just used my towel.
