No Impact Week Day 5: Annie

Today my roommates friend came and I told him all about this project and I inspired him to put his fruit in our community compost. I felt like I did better with conserving energy, however I used another K-cup to make coffee this morning. Although this was not intentional, I conserved water during my shower because the showers in Shorney were not working well.

No Impact Week Day 4: Annie

Today was definitely not my best day. My friend recently gave me his Keurig coffee machine because he wasn’t using his and I can’t really stand the coffee here at Denison. I thought about skipping out on my coffee because of the small, packaged K-cups that are required to make a cup. All of which is to say, I caved in and made myself coffee, which was just a bad start.

No Impact Week Day 3: Annie

Today has gone okay. I have been using my mini compost a lot, my roommate saved her orange peels and put them in as well which was good. I haven’t eaten any meat either, which isn’t as hard as I thought. Looking at my food choices, I don’t think that meat has really been a big part of my diet at all since I’ve gotten here.

No Impact Week Day 2: Annie

Today was a little better for me, other than forgetting to compost my orange peel this morning. I was really conscious of my energy use and I used natural light in my room so I wasn’t using any light energy. I also decided to make my own little compost in my room. I took a to-go box that was in my recycling bin and I put my apple core and orange peel in there.

No Impact Week Day 1: Annie

The first day of No Impact week was a little rough for me. In terms of food, I did pretty well. I ate foods that weren’t packaged and I composted the other food I ate. However, I did not go grocery shopping prior to this week, so getting to the market involved a little bit of gas and my food was put in paper bags.
