Wrapping up my No Impact Week, I’d say I’ve had a semi decent go at it. I didn’t end up with as many articles of trash as I thought I would, which is a positive. In my trash bag, I only had about eleven items of trash, which was under my goal for the week. Granted I did throw away a small percentage of my trash away in other places, it was still a positive for me.
So today all I have done is slept in bed, resting my ankle that is slowly turning purple. I’m counting this as a good thing because I got to catch up on some sleep, and I virtually had no impact. I will confess that I did stream the Manchester United game on my phone, so that was my energy usage for the day.
So day three has probably been my worst so far. I had a bad ankle injury in soccer practice this afternoon which had me taken to the emergency room. I can’t even imagine how much energy the hospital uses, so a visit there probably boosted my footprint tenfold. The x Ray machine being my primary cause for concern in terms of using energy.
I feel like my shower time is getting shorter and shorter everyday which is good. I’m trying to find a decent enough song under 3 min to play that lets me know when to get out. The best ones I’ve found so far are either Purple Haze or We Will Rock You. I’ve also not bought anything new this week except for food which was one of my goals previous to starting the project.
Right after class I head back to my room thinking of how hard I am going to try to make less of an impact on the environment this week. I get back to my room, plop down on my beanbag chair, and guess what it does, BURSTS! So now I’ve got white pellets all over my carpet and I’m probably over my trash limit for the week seeing as I had to throw the beanbag away.
