Saturday I realized how hard it is to have no impact at all to the environment, especially here where options are limited and you can’t have control over everything you do or have to do to avoid impact. However, on the other hand, living on this campus made some of the goals easier to achieve, such as transportation.
Throughout the week, the goals do keep getting a little harder and harder to accomplish especially because sometimes I simply follow habits and forget that I have certain goals I need to meet. Transportation however, was and is the easiest goal to achieve for me on a regular basis because I do not own a car and I rarely go off campus especially because its so hard to find someone that is willing to drive me to places whenever I need to.
For now, decreasing water and energy use has not been as hard as I thought it would be. Whenever I need light I only use lamps and whenever I leave the bathroom or room I always make sure the lights are turned off which is something I also do on a regular basis. before going to bed I have been unplugging my cellphone and laptop charger which I usually leave charging all night.
Reducing water consumption particularly on a Sunday was not very hard for me. Usually on Sundays I stay in all day and I don’t mind not taking a shower. The only times I used water today was to wash my hands and face and brush my teeth and I do it by turning off the faucet while i’m not using it.
