Day 3 blog: Juliana

Today went well! I left my fan unplugged and lights off during the night and day, and since I was in classes for most of today, my laptop and phone are still pretty full in battery and don’t need to be charged. I also avoided red meat at dinner, so I’m making some progress. One accident today was that when I left the bathroom after washing my hands, I stopped and quickly turned around when I realized I didn’t turn off the sink; I for some reason thought I was using an automatic sink, which is super weird because I know that the bathroom on my floor is not automatic.

Day 3 Blog Kate

Day 3 has so far been the easiest day. I think today has been the easiest because I have been busy. I have spent virtually no time in my room which removes the temptation to eat packaged foods, use the lights, and watch Netflix. I kind of enjoying being out of my room cause I feel I’m more productive in spaces like the library.

Day Three Blog

Today is better than Monday and Tuesday. I still didn’t eat any meat today, and I finished most of food I take. Also, today I got the things I bought online last week. They had many paper boxes so I could throw them into the recycled trash can. However, I found it was so difficult for me to cut my shower time.

Day 2 Limiting My Technology by Libby

No Impact is officially in full swing! I woke up this morning, got dressed in the dark, and turned off my power strips. I think its going to become a new habit! I have started to recognize how many choices it takes to make a lesser impact. I am constantly checking myself with small decisions. Especially with one of my goals being to stop using social media, I moved all my social media apps onto a new page in my phone.

Day Two Karly

Today has gone much better in terms of diet. I successfully remembered to bring a mug to Slayter for the three times that I got a tea from them today. For breakfast, I had a lot of fruit, which was a nice change since Curtis normally doesn’t have that great of a selection of fruit. However, I doubt the pineapple or strawberries were grown nearby, but it was one of my goals to eat fresh unpackaged food, so I guess that qualifies?

Day 1: So Far So Good! By Libby

Hey guys- I had issues posting so here is my blog from yesterday.

Day one went pretty well I think! I have spent almost my entire day in common spaces on campus working on homework and meeting with friends. I also remembered to turn off my power strip before leaving this morning at 8am which I was pretty excited about.

Day 2 blog: Juliana

Although I started off the morning with a Twix bar, which is pretty bad whether it’s No Impact Week or not, the rest of the day went well. When I brushed my teeth this morning, instead of washing my toothbrush off under running water, I put a few drops of water on a face towel and wiped it off.

Day 2 Noah Blog

Today was good, when I woke up I didn’t eat any food so I didn’t have to throw any fruit cups out:).  I also was able to take a three minute shower by listening to Waterloo by ABBA which was not something I thought I would be able to do.  I did eat at Slayter for lunch so I did produce waste with the container but I didn’t use a plastic fork!

food and waste

I keep running into a dilemma with my food…because of it’s waste. I had 2 big goals this week of eating food that is approximately 70% locally sourced and keeping my waste to the size of a plastic bag. The problem that I keep running into is that a lot of local food actually comes in a small amount of plastic.

Day Two Blog

This is my second day of my No Impact Week. Today I also stayed in campus, and I did’t take a car. I found it was possible for me not to plug in both my laptop and my phone. I could still use them for a whole day. Also, I didn’t eat meat today in the Curtis, and I bought nothing today except food.
