I found it much easier to be mindful of my consumption today than I did yesterday. As a result, I have managed to go through the day without generating any garbage, except for packaging from one food item I purchased in Slayter. I was successful in only drinking water from my water bottle, although this minor success might be offset by my moment of weakness in Slayter.
Personally I think my first day at the no impact is going quite well, but thats not the same for my roommates. I have two and they like to play music throughout the day and keep the lights on. I am going to continue to turn the music and lights off when I catch them not paying attention.
What a week that was. It was extremely difficult, but also rewarding.
Today I did a pretty good job and hace completed many of my goals!
I did not buy any new items! Instead of buying a new dress for formal, I borrowed a friends! Saved me some money too!
I did not create as much waste as I usually do!
I went to the kangaroo patting snake cuddling festival tonight in Slayter and it was a lot of fun! However, all the food wares are all made of plastics. But, that did not stop me from giving my No impact week a grand finale. I brought my own fork and knife (it’s already become a habit) and therefore I did not have to use the plastics that they provided.
Had trouble with this site, so I am late.
Had a good day, no impact until I went to lunch and had to use a plastic cup. Afterwards I sat in my room with no lights.
The festival forced me to use paper plates and plastic cups, but it was definitely easier today than any other day.
wow props to colin for going the whole year going no impact. I could barely go five days.
Today started off normal, instead I was extra careful today I took a 30 second shower to just wake up and managed to brush my teeth while drying off. Saved a lot of water. I did not use the water fountain at all and that is why I am parched writing this.
I greet you with the terrific news that at 8:43 p.m. the Boston PD has successfully captured the second suspect in the Boston Bombings and he is still alive. Watching this unfold live on television has been quite the usage of electricity. I do not feel bad for this because I had to stay glued to the television!
Today is the last day of the No Impact Week experience. It actually went by pretty quickly like many weeks these days at Denison. Today, I showed the most improvement. I got used to conserving water by taking short showers and not letting water run while brushing my teeth, conserving electricity by minimizing usage of my lights and computer (not to mention unplugging everything religiously while not in use), and finally not creating so much trash and eating sustainably.
I can’t believe the week is almost over. It’s flown by and I learned a whole lot. Today I tried to do my best to not have an impact. First this morning I woke up early before my 8: 30 class and got Curtis. It is was hard to wake up but the extra five minutes I didn’t sleep was worth it for today and I even got my shower to 2 minutes instead of three.
Today started out pretty well, as I did not shower since I woke up about 5 minutes before class (sorry Doc). I noticed how rough it was to go for a few days without an alarm clock in college, since we need to wake up at specific times to get to class. Because I woke up so late I was allowed me to save water, so thats a plus.
