Join us for the lecture “A Tidal Capture Model for the Origin of the Earth’s Moon and the Cool Early Earth Model for the Primitive Earth: Are They Compatible?” presented by Emeritus Professor of Geology at Denison University Bob Malcuit.

Prof. Malcuit will discuss the idea that our Moon was transferred from a heliocentric (sun-centered) orbit into a geocentric (earth-centered) one through a process called tidal capture about 3.95 Ga ago. For more information see  a recent article by Prof. Malcuit.

The lecture, sponsored by the C.L. Herrick Society, will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, in room 311 of the Olin Science Center (100 Sunset Hill Drive). The event is free and open to the public.
