While using SpeedGrader in Canvas you can adjust scores after they have been autograded. This allows for quick manual score correction due to autograder issues, like partial answers or other situations that warrant a positive or negative change in scores.
When manually grading in SpeedGrader, you need to click the green checkmark in order for the grade to save in the gradebook. Fudge Points are additive/subtractive to the original grade: if you mistakenly put the grade into the “Fudge Points” points area, without filling in the actual grade, it will show up as “0” points in the gradebook even if the “Final Score” in SpeedGrader shows points (see example below, “Waiting for grade” tells you that a grade has not been assigned, and the 18 “Fudge Points” will not show up in the gradebook). If you see that you have graded something and it is giving you a “0” in the gradebook, or if the gradebook does not reflect the points you allocated, check both the Fudge Points box and the actual grade box.
