Rebecca Kennedy (Ancient Greek & Roman Studies/Environmental Studies/Women & Gender Studies) caught Megan Threlkeld (History/Women & Gender Studies) in the act of some great teaching. Megan writes:
I use a Library Scavenger Hunt with my advising circles and my W101 but you could adapt it for any class. I have refined it a lot over the years, and this version works well for me. You can ask Rebecca Kennedy how she has adapted it for her students as well. My goals are to get students to 1) have fun exploring the library; 2) learn how to look things up on Consort, find both print books and ebooks, and order books from off-campus; 3) actually check a book out of the library; and 4) ask a librarian for help when they need it. I always give the librarians a heads-up in advance, and I sit near the circulation desk so students know where to find me. The fastest students can finish in about thirty minutes, and some need the whole fifty-minute period. Rebecca Kennedy Megan Threlkeld |
